Meet the Staff

Ms. Carol whooping
it up with Cole!
Carol Jenkins Stringham is a graduate of the University of Utah where she received a degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Fine Arts. She has been a teacher of children in one capacity or another for over twenty years. Carol has taught Elementary School, conducted Children's Choirs, taught pre-school and tutored ages four to adult. Her background in Choral Music goes back to her Jr. High Days. (That's too many years to count!) She currently sings with the Utah Symphony Chorus. Carol has been a Licensed Kindermusik Educator for almost 9 years. She is also a Certified Kindermusik Educator which means she is dedicated to continually honing her skills through attending workshops and seminars. Within two years of opening her studio she reached the level of Maestro in the Kindermusik community. This ranks her program as one of the top 5% of Kindermusik programs worldwide! She is happy to be affiliated with the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators and serves as the Southwest Region Representative for their National Board. As the owner and director of Song of the Heart, Carol is dedicated to bringing musical experience to children and their families, helping them to find the joy and power of music and hoping to put a song in their hearts that will last a lifetime!

Ms. Nancy 'wiggling
and giggling'!
Nancy Volpa has been a Licensed Kindermusik Educator for almost 6 years. As a teacher of both flute and piano, she brings a strong musical background to Song of the Heart. She has taught all levels of Kindermusik Curricula, including Music Box, a Kindermusik program designed for the Pre-School and Day Care Setting. In the world of business for many years, Nancy changed her focus to include the things she loves the most-- music and children. Her lyrical voice and her devotion to bringing music to children are the perfect blend for the Kindermusik classroom!

Ms. Nancy is currently on Sabbatical. We look forward to her speedy return to Song of the Heart!

Ms. Patrice snuggles
with Jackson
Song of the Heart welcomes Patrice Vincent to our staff!  Ms. Patrice brings a host of talent and experience to our studio. A graduate of the University of Utah, she is a licensed Kindermusik Educator, a trained Suzuki voice teacher as well as a private vocal instructor. A classically trained soprano, she has performed in numerous productions throughout Utah.  Her love of music runs the gamut from Opera to Musical Theatre to acting as the children's chorister in her church. A mother of four, Patrice became a Kindermusik educator nearly 7 years ago because of the amazing growth she saw in her own children as they participated in Kindermusik classes. Although performing is close to her heart, her favorite place to be is in the studio where she adores helping young children develop their own love of music.

Ms. Anna celebrates Halloween with Augustino!
We are delighted to announce that Anna Roumpos is joining our Song of the Heart family! Ms. Anna brings a wonderful mix of musicality and professional experience that we know our Kindermusik families will love. Anna graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Sociology and a Masters in Social Work. She has taught pre-school both at Expanding Horizons and the Carmen Pingree School for Children with Autism, where she also acted as the School's Social Worker for ten years, providing counseling for children with autism and their families. Anna also created and directed the Autism Intervention Diagnosis and Education Clinic. She plays the clarinet and has leant her beautiful singing voice to many performing groups over the years. The joy her twin boys found in their Our Time class inspired her to become a Kindermusik Educator and she is excited to make a significant difference in the lives of childre n and their families here at Song of the Heart. Her amazing experience and musicality, along with her dedication and obvious passion for working with children, make her the perfect fit for the Kindermusik classroom!

Ms. Kari shakes it
up with Peter!
Song of the Heart welcomes Kari Mcmullin to our amazing staff! Ms. Kari began teaching music to her daughter the minute little Ruth was born, as she started singing to her the same songs and lullabies her grandma and mother sang when she was small. Raised in a family that enjoyed all varieties of music, Kari played the piano in High School, where she accompanied the school choir, and in College, where she accompanied several choral groups. During her early adult years she also studied guitar and voice. She graduated in Spanish and English from the University of Utah and received her teaching certificate from Westminster College. She taught both Spanish and English at the Middle School level before starting her family and relocating to New Mexico where she opened her Kindermusik studio. Happy to be back in her native Utah and still desiring to blend her love of music with her background in education, Kari l ooks forward to continuing to make a unique contribution to her community through teaching here at Song of the Heart. She hopes to inspire a lifelong love of music and learning in Kindermusik children and their families. With her warm manner and wonderful musical skills we know she will do just that!

Think of all the hearts beating in the world
--at the same time.
Think of all the faces and the stories they could tell
--at the same time
Think of all the eyes looking out into this world
Trying to make some sense of what we see.
Think of all the ways we have of seeing.
Think of all the ways there are of being.
Think of all the children being born into this world
--at the same time.
Feel your love surround them through the years
they'll need to grow--at the same time.
Just think of all the hands that will be reaching for a dream.
Think of all the dreams that will come true.
Yes, if the hands we're reaching with could come
together joining me and you.
When it comes to thinking of tomorrow,
We must protect our fragile destiny.
In this precious life there's no time to borrow.
The time has come to be a family.
Think of all the love flowing from our hearts
--at the same time.
Think of all the light our love could shine around
this world--at the same time.
Just think what we've been given and just think
what we could lose.
All of life is in our trembling hands.
It's time to overcome our fears and try to build a
world that loves and understands.
It helps to think of all the hearts
beating in the world.
And hope for all the hearts beating in the world.
There's a healing music in our hearts!
Beating in this world--at the same time
At the same time...

- Ann Hampton Calloway

Drum, drum, drum!

Chase gets ready to play
his glockenspiel.

Hey, what is that?
As Thomas is our last child, I wanted to spend some very intentional "one on one" time with him. The past two years have exceeded my wildest expectations. Being able to share Thomas' smile with our senior friends at Brighton Gardens has made it a real two for one deal. Thank you for sharing your energy, enthusiasm and talents with us. Watching Thomas grow from a 6 month old baby who wasn't even crawling (yet could spit up on a dime) to the dancing, ball throwing two year old he is today has been one of the great blessings in my life. You have made great contributions to the development in all our children through your work as a Kindermusik educator." (Father of three Kindermusik kids)
