Simply Music is a revolutionary Australian-developed piano and keyboard method that is a breakthrough in music education. This unique approach has students of all ages playing great-sounding contemporary, classical, blues, jazz and accompaniment pieces immediately from their very first lessons! We are excited to offer Simply Music as a group piano class for children 7 and up.
The Simply Music philosophy
Simply Music focuses on the fun and sheer pleasure of playing music. The ‘hands-on’ nature of the program yields immediate results dispelling the notion that learning to play means enduring years of lessons, boring practice sessions and relentless hours of drills.
Four features distinguish Simply Music from traditional programs:
- The quantity of music that students learn
- The quality of music that students immediately learn to play
- The speed of progress
- The ease with which students experience the process
Who can benefit from learning in the Simply Music Program?
- Children, Teens, Adults and Seniors (our focus is on children 7 years and older)
- Total beginners
- Students with prior experience
- People with special needs, including cognitive delays and physical limitations
- People who believe they are not musical
The Simply Music method
The Simply Music Method is based on the premise that everyone, without exception, is naturally musical. Traditional piano methods insist that beginning students learn to read music as the means of learning how to play. This removes the natural connection between the student and instrument and commonly, it removes all the fun, too. In fact, expecting children to read music before they have learned how to play is like expecting them to read and spell before they have learned how to talk. In stark contrast to traditional methods, Simply Music temporarily delays music-reading and introduces a revolutionary ‘playing-based’ approach a vast array of unique concepts that unfold directly onto the keyboard and produce unprecedented results. The student in Simply Music experiences the pleasure and satisfaction that comes from immediately playing a huge repertoire of great-sounding music.

"My daughter is only 7 years old with no previous music knowledge. Our experience has absolutely surpassed our expectations. Recently she played in front of 100 people and brought the house down."

"The Simply Music program seems inherently self-motivating. Our son has learned to love the piano and his ability to create music on it has avoided the disenchantment we both experienced with having to spend weeks and months learning boring exercises which at times seemed only distantly related to music. Rather than parents and teachers having to make constant demands to practice, practice, practice, our son now has his own passion to motivate his continued learning."

"At 83 years of age, this wonderful program has given my life a dimension that has brought me much joy and
satisfaction. Instead of spending hours in front of the TV, it is so much more fulfilling to sit down at the piano
and play. The experience of Simply Music has helped me to cope with stress, and even sadness. Just sitting there
and enjoying the music that you can coax out of the instrument - can you think of a nicer sensation?
I have been most fortunate and blessed to have had the experience of Simply Music."

"This is a wonderful music program and the results are astounding! Even if you don’t consider yourself
musically talented, this program is designed for you! It is easy to understand and easy to play a full repertoire
of beautiful songs from a variety of genres. I also think this program could be a major breakthrough for
children with a variety of cognitive delays and learning disabilities. I love the Simply Music approach.”

Our newly established Heart Song Academy welcomes
Lori Nuffer to our team of music educators.
Lori started studying piano when she was six years old and has continued studying and playing throughout her life. She has had a rich variety of experiences in music -- accompanying instrumentalists, vocalists and choirs, performing as a soloist and in ensembles, playing with orchestras, researching interesting music and working on recording projects. Lori feels that her most significant musical experience have been playing informally for family and friends, and just for herself. Music is a lifelong companion for her and a wonderful means to communicate deeply. It is Lori’s hope and goal for her students that they will also be able to create a lifelong relationship with music and have the joy of being able to express themselves with music.
Lori has taught students since 1994 using traditional methods. She is now trained in and teaching the Simply Music Method, a playing-based approach that taps into every person’s natural musicality and has students playing great sounding music from their very first lesson!
