Making the Most of Your Kindermusik Experience

  • Plan on arriving a few minutes early. This gives you time to remove coats and shoes and settle into the musical environment. Although we have rugs for seated activities, the studio floors are hardwood and can be slippery. Plan on bare feet or socks with skid resistant soles. Please, no shoes in studio!
  • During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be a focused, active and patient role model. Please save "grown-up" chat for before and after class. This is a special time for you and your child to be together in a creative, enriching environment. When you are an active, engaged participant in class activities your child will model your actions and focus more fully, too.
  • It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. What a child is absorbing during class is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than to a certain level of participation in class. The understanding, sensitivity and consistency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home are the key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
  • Your child will benefit enormously from the use of the fabulous and enriching Home Materials! Frequent reinforcement and play at home during the week makes all the difference in a child's level of comfort and participation in class.
  • Remember, children come in all ages, stages, and personality types. At Song of the Heart we are understanding, accepting and supportive of all children and parents and we are dedicated to the growth and development of each and every student!
  • The Song of the Heart Boutique is open during December and April. You will be enchanted by the beautiful Folkmanis Puppets sold at 25% below retail as well as the wonderful instruments and CDs we have available for your gift buying and personal needs. Folkmanis puppets are available for order year round. Please check with Carol for a catalog and price sheet.
  • Song of the Heart makes Scholastic Books available to our families two to three times per semester! This is a great way to add to your family library with inexpensive and up to date books. Simply pick up an order form in the studio and return your completed order form, along with one check made out to Scholastic, the following week. Your books will be delivered right to your class in two short weeks!

Studio Policies

  • The registration fee and first payment are non-refundable once materials have been ordered.
  • There are no make-ups or refunds for student absences.
  • Village and Our Time classes can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to be content in a car seat.
  • Please do not leave unattended children in the hall at the studio.
  • Please no shoes, food, drink, toys or bottles in the studio or office.
  • Please leave shoes and coats in the long hall to the left of the main entrance (not the office).
  • There is a bench inside the studio for purses and valuables.
  • Please walk Imagine That and Young Child students into the studio.
  • Parents of the Imagine That students join us for the last 15 minutes of class. Parents of Young
  • Child students join us for the last 10 minutes of class. Siblings are welcome during this time!
  • The Children’s Ballet Theatre has asked the parents of Ballet, Young Child and Imagine That students to please exit the building during their child’s class. With the volume of Ballet and Kindermusik students, the parking lot and hallways have become too busy and disruptive during class time. When parents and siblings return for Sharing time please be aware that classes are being held in studios off the hallway.
  • CBT has asked us to remind our parents that the office is not for shoes, waiting or watching class.
  • They have also asked that we try and be quiet in the hall when Ballet Classes are in session.
  • We are asked to drive into the East lot and park in the West lot to make the traffic flow easier for the volume of Kindermusik and Ballet students. Traffic is particularly heavy on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when the entire studio is in use. Do not park along the fence.
  • In the event of teacher illness, cancelled classes will be made up at the end of the semester.

"I can tell Harrison recognizes the songs and enjoys them because when I turn on the CD player or start
singing he gets a huge smile on his face and he turns to listen."
(Musician and Kindermusik mom)

"The music is great. I love the variety. I only wish I had known about Kindermusik for my older kids.
I value it over every other pre-school experience we've had."
